Betty K. Speck, 91, of Brownfield in Pope County and a former resident of Johnson County for 41 years, passed away at 12:37 a.m. Friday morning, Dec. 27, 2024, at at the Metropolis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.Betty was born Oct. 1, 1933, in Johnson County. She was the fourth of five children born to Earl and Claris (Kerley) Wright.On Aug. 24, 1974, Betty was united in marriage to Wayne Speck at the Simpson Baptist Church. Together, Wayne and Betty, had shared over 50 years of marriage.In addition to her devoted husband, Betty is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Mount of Vienna; grandchildren, Heath (Christy) Gorden of Benton and Misty (B.J.) Barger of Vienna; great grandchildren, Madison (Wyatt) Bridges of Edwardsville and Collin Miller of Benton; a sister-in-law, Mary King of Elgin; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends and neighbors.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Hal, Bill, Jean and Buster Wright; a son-in-law, Jer
