Rita S. Housewright, 75, of Metropolis, passed away at 10:26 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, 2024, at her home.Rita was born Feb. 12, 1949, in Moline. She was the daughter of James and Naomi (Burklow) Bowman.On April 17, 1993, Rita was united in marriage to John D. Housewright in Metropolis. He survives.In addition to her husband, Rita is survived by her children, Tamara S. (Larry Sims) Hornsby of Metropolis, Teresa L. (Mark) Holly-Williams of Peoria, James T. (Joann Reyna) Holly of San Antonio, Texas, and Richard D. (Tara) Yates of Metropolis; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; a brother, Richard (Darla) Bowman of Metropolis; nieces and nephews.Rita was preceded in death by her parents, James and Naomi (Burklow) Bowman; a granddaughter, Aoleon Hill; a brother, James Michael Bowman; and a sister, Patricia Ann Heflin.Rita had been employed as a Patient Care Assistant (P.C.A.) for approximately 15 years in the Emergency Room and Intensive Care Unit at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah.
