Verna (McNeely) Taylor, 97, rural Vienna, died at 8:35 a.m. Wednesday morning, March 20, 2024, at Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Metropolis.She was employed as a proofreader by Underwriters Laboratory in Chicago. Following the family's return to Johnson County, She was employed as a clerk/cashier at Daniel's Grocery and later by Bill Miles Food Mart.She was a longtime member of Vienna First United Methodist Church and attended Metropolis First United Methodist Church while living in Massac County.She is survived by sons, Ronald Taylor of Metropolis, and Greg Taylor of Olathe, Kansas; grandchildren, Amy Jeffords of Paducah, Kentucky, Michelle Taylor and Andrew Taylor all of Olathe, Kansas; five great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Gilbert Taylor; a granddaughter; an infant sister; and three brothers. Her parents were John and Oma (Brumley) McNeely.Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday March 23, 2024, at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna
